Thousands protested in Athens over deadly train crash which killed nearly 60 people. A small group of protesters clashed with the police, throwing petrol bombs which resulted in the police responding with tear gas and hand grenades. Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis apologized for the accident which sparked outrage across Greece and led to multiple protests calling for better safety regulations for the country’s rail network. Candle-light marches were also held over the week in memory of the victims, many of whom were students. Around 12,000 people were present for the demonstration on Sunday, and family members and relatives of those killed gathered outside Larissa station for a memorial.
